- a UCI Race license
- a VeloNB membership

Race Format
Each race will consist of 2 to 3 timed ‘Race Stages’. Each Race Stage is predominantly downhill riding on singletrack, or machine-built trail maintained by River Valley Cycling. Each Race Stage will be accessed by a ‘Liaison Stage’. Liaison Stages are untimed. The event will begin at the Race Start where participants will follow the Liaison Stage to the start of the first Race Stage. After each Race Stage is complete, racers will follow the Liaison Stage to the start of the next Race Stage. Once ALL participants have completed the Race Stage and are accounted for, the next Race Stage will open. When all Race Stages are complete, racers proceed to the Finish area. Course Plans will be released to participants a week prior to each event. If changes in the plan are made, participants will be notified via RVC social media channels.
The Course Plan will include the following:
Location of all Race Stages and Liaison Stages
Location of Race Start and Race Finish
Designated parking areas

Bikes with gears and disc brakes highly recommended
Race organizers reserve the right to refuse entry to any racers whose bike does not meet criteria set out above.
Helmets and Protective Gear
All racers must wear a helmet throughout the competition.
Helmets must be worn during all Race Stages and Liaison Stages, and at any point while riding a bike. Helmets must be approved by one of the following agencies:

American Society for Testing and Materials
Helmets must be mountain bike-specific and must be properly fitted.

Timing System
Timing will be collected using the Zone4 Timing System. Each racer will be assigned a timing chip that they will attach to their handlebar or stem. Once a racer passes a designated ‘start’ on the Race Stage a signal will be sent to activate the timing system. Once the racer passes the designated stage ‘finish’ their time will be collected.
Other Equipment and Necessities
Racers should be self-sufficient for the duration of the event. This includes carrying any essentials needed such as:
Emergency medication
Water and hydration
Food and nutrition
Tools and spare parts
Clothing layers
Race Rules
Racers leave from Race Start to begin the first Liaison Stage.
Different start times may be assigned for each racer category depending on participant numbers.
Racers must follow all Liaison Stages and Special Stages in the order.
Each Race Stage is individual start only.
If Youth participant requests to have parent/guardian follow behind, please indicate to race organizer before race start.
Participants must wait a minimum of 30 seconds after the previous racer before beginning a
Race Stage (racers may use their own discretion to allow additional time).
Racers must stay on the established trail through all Race Stages and Liaison Stages.
If the opportunity presents to pass a racer ahead on track, racers must verbally announce their intention to pass. The rider ahead must pull over and clear the track.
Re-starting a Race Stage is not permitted. The exception would be if the participant stopped their race run to assist an injured rider. Communication must be made to race organizers.
All participants must travel to the Race Finish, return timing chips, and sign out with organizers after completing the final Liaison Stage.
Safety
Racers must have the skills and confidence to ride all Stages competently.
Appropriate safety equipment should be used.
First Aid will be onsite (Canadian Ski Patrol).
Local nearby Fire stations will be aware of each event location and potential extraction points.
If a racer encounters an injured rider, they must verbally ask if help is required.
